Notes

I’m not sure what this yarn is made of -- possibly wool? Cotton? Whatever it is, it is really annoying! In a case of “you get what you pay for”, every row or so of this pattern I get a spot in the yarn where a ply or two is broken and I need to cut it out and reattach with a magic knot before going on.

I started this blanket because I wanted a simple “palette cleanser” project after doing the Grandma Nora blanket with all those different colors and ends to weave in.

There are many versions of this pattern (which was featured on the Call the Midwife BBC show), though the original was a vintage Patons booklet. I looked through several and decided I liked Rebecca’s interpretation the best.

This is a good Netflix-watching project since it is very easy to memorize, so I plan to do one repeat per day (the blanket is 7x11 “blocks”).

Fortunately, the yarn, after the first three repeats or so, turned out to be perfectly fine. The second skein didn’t have any issues at all. This is such an elegant little blanket. I’ll keep it for a while to see if anyone wants it, and I’ll add it to the donate pile.

Dropped off at Island Yarn where Vicki is collecting blankets to go to Boston Medical Center. Very happy to have it go to a good cause.
