Back in 2016 I signed up for a Crochet class at my town’s Community Education. I brought I random skein of yarn I had picked up, probably at Tuesday Morning. I had lost the label so I don’t even know what it is though it feels like it might be Patons Kroy Sock (scratchy). I had no idea what to make with it but the instructor suggested a V-stitch scarf, so that’s what it became.
That was 10 years ago in January! This year, my overall theme is “Celebrate
& Enhance
” and the Celebrate is referencing this anniversary and the joy crochet has brought me over the years. So, I chose to do an updated version of the first project using my increased knowledge. For this iteration, I chose a lovely Malabrigo yarn in an appropriate colorway -- Anniversario -- that has all my favorite colors in it. The skein was a souvenir from Circle of Stitches in Salem, MA, that was purchased when my husband and I visited the shop while waiting for our table to be ready at a nearby restaurant while on a weekend get-away. It is a lovely, soft yarn, also in fingering weight but with a bigger hook than typical to contribute to the drape. So far, I am loving how it is working up.
I’ve got it living in my Della Q Oh Snap Rainbow bag which coordinates with the colors and is just the right size for a one-skein project.
I followed a tutorial on Kelsey’s YouTube channel just so I didn’t have to think about how to get it started, though mine is a much thinner yarn than hers and a much smaller hook. I’ve got 14 V’s.

Worked on it at the airport and finished on the plane
to San Antonio.
Looking at it in photos, it’s really striking how the beginning of the skein is so much darker than the end of the skein, so I’ll seam the ends together so it’s an infinity scarf (like the original from 10 years ago) which should make that less noticeable.
