3/30/13 - I am loving the results. Might add some kind of sleeve, but I am not yet sure because it might change (in an unattractive way) the beauty of this piece.

4/1/13 - Finished dress front. Altered neckline to a modified square neckline. Now on to the back of the dress.

4/5/13 - Completed the lower left and right sides of back (the pieces that make up the slit portion), joined two pieces, and now working upwards, hip-bound.

4/8/13 - First needle size change occurred last night, which means hip shaping. Getting closer… Due to a frozen shoulder that negatively affects my upper arm and shoulder (burning sensation) I cannot knit for hours on end. I must take frequent breaks, which has prolonged the completion of this project.

4/13/13 - Completed the dress. Comments: even though I reduced the number of repeats to shorten the dress (because I am 5’4”) the weight of the dress pulled the length to my ankles. This isn’t so bad. What presents a problem is that the armholes stretched out more than I’d like, and I made them slightly shorter than the pattern called for. Or so I thought. A single crochet round around each armhole tightened the area, but not enough. I will have to wear a red tank or cami so that the bra does not show.

I do love the dress. At some point I will make another copy of this pattern, but I will adjust the pattern to make a knee-length dress, and be sure to keep the armholes short enough to allow for stretching.

NOTE TO SELF - instead of remaking the entire dress, see how I can cut it down, so to speak, just below the knee. Not sure how to accomplish this, but I will investigate the possibilities.
