Notes

LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn so much already. It’s beautiful in color and so so soft! It really does feel like a t-shirt. I can’t wait to have this finished product to wear probably 3 out of 4 seasons per year. Maybe even year round.

It seems like every semester I end up having a project that is the reason I’m getting through it. Thank you to this sweater for being that project. I’m getting tons done on it as I procrastinate on and take breaks from papers.

After looking at some people’s modifications, I decided to try doing one large stripe instead of the last three small ones. I like it. It fits me much better and is more flattering. I’m a petite, so I don’t have a very long torso.

I also ended up adding an extension to the sleeves - 1x1 ribbing in my main color (purple) - because I like sleeves to err on the long side.

Seaming was… not very fun. I’ve turned into one of those knitters who doesn’t like seaming. I’m not saying this project was necessarily the one that…well, no, I am saying that. Oh, the stripes. Lining them up. Ughhh. But it’s what you sign on for when you follow a pattern for a striped sweater that’s knit up in pieces. For my next project, I think I’ll try a raglan.

I’m skipping the button band for now. I see others haven’t liked it or have had trouble with it. I rarely button my sweaters anyway, and I’ve actually never knitted a button band, so I’m just letting it curl over right now. Looks fine.

I ended up with one unopened skein of purple and about a half of another purple, plus almost an entire skein of blue. It’s okay though, I love this yarn so much and I would rather have too much than too little. I’m now making a sort of patchwork shawl/throw/lap blanket type thing of my own (spur-of-the-moment) design while I’m waiting for my next order of knit picks yarn to be delivered!
