In 2009 I purchased a single share of the yarn from the Fall Shearing at Martha’s Vineyard Farms, now named Juniper Moon Farms. The wool is one of a kind, 50% cormo sheep wool & 50% mohair goat. Its a bit rough, has a heavy “you know you are wearing something” feel to it. It was hand dyed by the wonderful owner/operator, Susan Gibbs and it is truly one of a kind. Sadly I ran out of yarn before I could complete my project. I searched hi & low for a reasonable facsimile to add on the edges and sleeveless cuffs. I found a good pairing in Knit Picks City Tweed DK in Plum Wine. So far I have used one skein and I figure I will use another half skein. I didn’t know how much I would need when I ordered so I have enough to make my mom a nice cap or tam. That’ll be for Christmas!

The vest is meant as a birthday present for my mom who’s birthday is tomorrow, 10/15.

UPDATE: Finished it the day of the 2010 NYS Sheep & Wool Festival! Mom wore it proudly (and warmly) that day.
