Notes

Paradise rum is a yummy rainbow self striping -- note that some users put this in the standard Aran category and some in Cocktail. I dunno!

Referred to the classic book “Sensational Knitted Socks” and it suggested for a worsted (which this is according to it’s guide for WPI, and yardage per 100g) to go with a size 4 needle. Seems perfect -- good and sturdy.

Cast on Judy’s Modified Magic Cast On (so you don’t have to knit through any back loops) for 8 stitches per side and went up to 24 in the end. Longer toe box than average as I have long toes.

Using my chiagoos on 40 inch total length with size 4 tips and red cable. Two at a time because I am impatient to wear these!

Downside -- Huge debate on if I need 44 or 48 stitches per sock! Right on 6 stitches per inch and with 10% negative ease I should be closer to 44 than 48.

Ended up doing a few plain rows between 44 and then increasing to 48 so I can borrow the Vanilla Latte pattern repeat of 8 stitches.

Starting that soon and then we’ll see how this plays out.

Hazards of early AM knitting — my stitch pattern is 6 stitches not 8. I apparently decided to center the pattern starting with k2, p2k4 until last 2 sts, k2.

Um. Sure, 2AM me? seems legit.

October 12, 2017

Meh. Too big. Tinked back to 22 stitches per side.

October 12, 2017

Good practice round. Yup. Frog out and think about an odd cast on.

October 12, 2017

I wanted Vanilla Latte darn it! Let’s try a half size needle down? Because I’m nuts.

October 14, 2017

Not going to get a high enough stitch count to do Vanilla Latte. Going plain SS with a ribbed cuff.

October 20, 2017

Turned both heels. Did one on opposite side to make the stripes transition on bottom of foot.

October 25, 2017

Finished 2x2 ribbing with sewn bind off (through 2 as if to Purl leave on needle, through first stitch as if to knit slip off) leave more than 25 inch tail.

October 25, 2017

In hind sight make leg an inch longer and try standard ribbing with a Purl separator row. Good thing I have lots of yarn! Also may do fore thought heel to mai tail stripes.
