Notes

4/14: I have gone to all of the YFU store closing sales. I have gotten a lot of yarn. This yarn was 70% off. I love Fine Sand this is my third one. This red is one I do not have. I love the short rows. I really wanted another yak yarn but they no longer exist at Bison Bison. I grabbed this yarn. I plan to buy no more yarn because YFU has supplied me very well.

Prior Notes of Fine Sand using Yak Yarn:
4/4/19: I have made Fine Sand before and loved how it knitted up. I am using 100% Yak to have a warmer version. I did my gauge swatch and looks good.

4/10: This is my second sweater with this pattern. My brain is not working and I really had to concentrate setting up the increases. This pattern is fun because it is like an algebra formula. The center marker/counter will tell what row I am actually on once the formula is set up

This is what I have on page 3 to help me out with my personal increases:

INCREASE ROW (repeat these 6 rows 10 times

k1,
RLI, k3 10 times, (30 Stitches)
RLI,
K2
sm (=center back),
k2,
LLI,
K3, LLI 10 times, (30 Stitches)
k1.

88 stitches when complete with this row

Here is the formula for Rows: 2-6

Row 2 (WS): k1, p to last st, k1.
Row 3 (RS): k all sts.
Row 4 (WS): k1, p to last st, k1
Row 5 (RS): k all sts
Row6. (WS): k1, p to last st, k1

Go back to pattern and redo the formula again:

Row 1 (RS): k1, RLI, kB D times, RLI, kC, sm (=center back), kC, LLI, kB, LLI D times, k1.

This time you will be on REPEAT#2 in

Row 1 (RS): k1, RLI, kB D times, RLI, kC, sm (=center back), kC, LLI, kB, LLI D times, k1.

k1,
RLI, k4 10 times
RLI,
K3
sm (=center back),
k3
LLI
k4, LLI 10 times,
k1.
Total Count 110 stitches

The center marker will tell what row I am actually on once the formula is set up

Rows 5-6: as Rows 3-4.

Third set of increases:
k1,
RLI, k5 10 times
, RLI,
K4
, sm (=center back),
K4
LLI,
k5, LLI 10 times
, k1.

4th set of increases:

k1,
RLI, k6 10 times,
RLI, k5,
sm (=center back)
, k5,
LLI,
k6, LLI 10 times,
k1.

5th set of increases:
k1,
RLI, k7 10 times
RLI
K6
sm (=center back)
k6
LLI,
k7, LLI 10 times
, k1.
Total Stitches 176

6th set of increases
k1,
RLI, k8 10 times
, RLI,
k7,
sm (=center back
k7,
LLI,
k8, LLI 10 times,
k1.

I am doing 10 rows instead of 6 (I can see the length is not good.

7th set of increases
k1,
RLI, k9 10 times
RLI, k8,

sm (=center back),
k8,
LLI,
k9, LLI 10
times, k1.
Go 12 rows to get the length

8th Increase (do 10 rows)

9th do 10 rows

10th d 10 rows try on

I get about 8 Stitches for the length I see I need 8.5* 8=68 rows 66= 36 rows
I have 5” so far 58- 40 rows
I need to do 68-40= 28 more rows

Looks like 10 rows per section

8th set of increases
k1, RLI, kB D times, RLI, kC, sm (=center back), kC, LLI, kB, LLI D times, k1.

k1,
RLI, k9 10 times
, RLI,
K8,
sm (=center back),
k8,
LLI,
k9, LLI 10 times,
k1.

9th set of increases 9
k1, RLI, kB D times, RLI, kC, sm (=center back), kC, LLI, kB, LLI D times, k1.

k1,
RLI, k11 10 times
, RLI,
K10,
sm (=center back),
kC11,
LLI,
k11, LLI 10 times,
k1.

10th set of increases (before beginning these increases make sure you have 143 on each side
k1,
RLI, k12 10 times,
RLI,
K11,
sm (=center back),
k11,
LLI,
kB12, LLI 10 times,
k1.

11th set of increases
Row 1 (RS): k1, RLI, kB13 D10 times, RLI, K12, sm (=center back), k12, LLI, kB124, LLI D times, k1.
Row 2 (WS): k1, p to last st, k1.
Row 3 (RS): k all sts.
Row 4 (WS): as Row 2.
Rows 5-6: as Rows 3-4.
NOTE: The first and last st of every RS and
154 on each side

5/2/19: Dividing for the Sleeves:
Next row (RS): k48, move 58sts (=left sleeve sts) onto waste yarn, CO 5 sts, pm (=left side), CO 5 sts, k96 (leaving center back marker in place), move 58 sts (=right sleeve sts) onto waste yarn, CO 5 sts, pm (=right side), CO 5 sts, k48.

154 on each side. 308 total stitches before dividing for the sleeve.

5/3/19: I divided for the sleeve. So now time to set up markers.
Next row (RS): k1, RLI,
k to left side marker,
sm COUNTER
k2 tog
, k to left back marker
, sm, TURQUOISE
RLI ,
k to right back marker,
LLI,
Sm PINK
k to 2 sts before right side marker
, ssk,
sm, PURPLE
k to last st,
LLI,
k1. (= 1 st inc’d on each front; back sts remain
unchanged)

There is a 2 stitch increase
Then I knit 5 rows

Next row (RS): k1, RLI,
k to left side marker,
sm COUNTER
k2 tog
, k to left back marker
, sm, TURQUOISE
RLI ,
k to right back marker,
LLI,
Sm PINK
k to 2 sts before right side marker
, ssk,
sm, PURPLE
k to last st,
LLI,
k1. (= 1 st inc’d on each front; back sts remain
unchanged)
I need to do the increase row on the following rows

Do this 14 times so. I should have knitted 80 rows before starting next section of the pattern
Increase rows are:

1,7,13,19,25,31,37,43,49,55,61,67,73,79

7/10: Short row Section. I did German short rows and got rid of markers except side band. I went back and forth on my own. I could not figure out the directions. I did about 8 short rows meaning 16 back and forth
7/14: Button band w/o button. Do 4 rows garder. Then K2tog YO. 3 rows of garden Row 4 i-cord

YAK Sleeves look at Chart

Sleeves I did:
This is the sleeve: One sleeve done
1: Pu stiches
2 k
3p
4 k
5 p
6 K2tog YO
7 K
8P
9 BO
