Pattern:
The Squares Beanie Hat
By TakuKnitsDesigns
This is a beginner friendly knitting pattern for a simple but elegant beanie hat for women. It is knitted in the round from the bottom up on 4mm circular needles and is an ideal project for all abilities. The only skills you will need are to be able to cast on, knit, purl, cast/bind off and weave in ends. You can easily scale this pattern up or down by adding or subtracting multiples of eight stitches at cast on so you can make a lovely beanie hat for all your friends and family. It’s the perfect gift! Needles and notions One pair of UK 4mm 16 inch circular needles. One stitch marker. One tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Four 4 mm double pointed needles for decreasing. Yarn
100g of double knit or Aran wool/yarn. I used Cascade 220 Superwash DK but any DK or Aran yarn is fine. The Squares Beanie Hat pattern Using size UK4 mm 16 inch circular needles, cast on 96 (small to fit 54-56 cm head circumference) 104 (medium to fit 56-58 cm head circumference) 112 (large to fit a 58-60 cm head circumference) Join in the round and place a marker. Continue in K2, P2 rib for 16 rounds/rows or to your desired rib length. Continue as follows: Purl 1 row Rows 1-4: K4, P4 Rows 5-8: P4, K4
Repeat these 8 rows five more times (you can carry on for an extra 8 rows if you prefer a longer length hat) Purl 1 row. Decrease and finish
Round 1: Knit 8 stitches, knit 2 together. Continue in this way until the end of the round
Round 2: Knit 7 stitches, knit 2 together. Continue in this way until the end of the round.
Round 3: Knit 6 stitches together etc and continue in this way until 9 stitches remain, moving to the double pointed needles when necessary.
Cut yarn, leaving a 7 inch tail. Using the tapestry needle draw the yarn through the remaining stitches, removing them from the needles. Pull yarn to close and thread it inside the hat.
Turn the hat inside out and with the remaining yarn and tapestry needle, sew up the hole. Carefully weave in the ends and snip. You can use this simple beanie hat pattern to create something lovely and useful for yourself and others. Alternatively why not make one for charity or even to sell? Happy knitting!

This is a fun knit; but I miss colorwork. I had extra of this yarn and wanted to make one beanie with it
