Notes

Firstly I’m using self-striping yarn so I’m cheating a bit!

I cast on using this technique. Quite tricky on double pointed needles but very effective. I’m a bit disappointed with the very angular toe and would have preferred a pattern that had a curved toe after the cast on.

When I got to the heal I knit the first, 17 stitch, row in the stripy yarn so that there was an even number of rows in the heal instead of more on one side than the other.

It took a couple of attempts to get the Sherman heal correct. It was unusual to me that after the first row there are no wraps when you turn. I kept re-reading the pattern looking for the wraps!

The ribbing on the last socks that I knit wasn’t tight enough so on the first row of the cuff I knit two together every 12 or so stitches to reduce the circumference slightly. 64 stitches.
