Secret Squirrel cos I’m not going to reveal until it’s done - ETA Friday 14th Sept 2012 1700. Right on track now…

It’s done! Photos soon.
Well, I’m happy!

The idea was to make a shrug that was slightly more draught-friendly, based on a circular motif. I live in a rather chilly place, and I like to keep my back warm :)

So I began with the circle, then worked from those measurements to draft out the final pattern, using (as you can see) a raglan sleeve.

The trickiest part was making a gusset to fit the lower part of the circle to the back of the raglan; I will be changing this slightly in the pattern.

Biggest mistake: not aligning the circle properly when I grafted it in(curses!). Quite surprised how well it did work out, though.

Meanest comment (from my tween granddaughter): “That’s a horrible colour!”

Goals: to adapt the pattern so there’s not so much grafting - my brain began to hurt when I was trying to work this out in my head - and in different sizes.

I think this would make a really nice (and practical) bridal accessory in white silk.
