Knit Picks Color-Your-Own, hand-dyed with Jamaica and Black Cherry Kool-Aid, with highlights of Cherry Kool-Aid and a different brand of drink mix in Peach.
These socks were started on the Veendam, a ship of the Holland America line, while on the Baltic sea.
I overthought the pattern, I think, and added one 12-stitch repeat to the leg of the sock to fit my large calves. However, when I got to the heel flap I had far too many stitches and the sock was way too big. I plan to rip the sock out and start anew, using the number of repeats called for in the pattern, but this time I’ll use a larger needle to start with, and then switch to smaller needles as I get to the ankle.
10/20/07: Knit the leg on US 2 and switched to US1 for the foot. Would have been better to do the leg on US1.5, which I don’t currently own. Will frog (again!) and reknit (again!) once I have the correct size needles.
10 years later, I decided that while I really like both the yarn and the pattern, I don’t like them together; I never finished the toe of the first sock, much less the second. Frogged.
