Had to start over from my Hawaii (May 2014 version)- I knitted the medium and it’s HUGE on me! Yet I’m a tight knitter and also typically wear a large. So my second version (late 2014/early 2015) is modded quite a bit: smaller needle sizes, shorter short rows that only hit the very back, and still cropped.

I also only had enough of the Blue Jay to knit the bottom hem, so I dyed my own DK to match! Dyeing is SO FUN.

-cropped instead of oversized
-mirroring the cables
-making the short rows only hit the back, and not wrap around the sides
-smaller needles
-sleeves in the round

This pattern has some serious layout issues. You shouldn’t have to look at the notes for 2 pages regarding increases and decreases- fit those onto the same page! Page break in the middle of a sentence? No way! Since you’re already looking at pages 4&5 together, also having to look at pages 2&3 is an extra hassle until you’ve memorized the pattern.

This could be easily solved by not having such a giant header on every page…
