Notes

Using size 5 for top ribbing, 6 for stockinette and top corrugated ribbing, and 7 for the colorwork. Then I used 7 for the bottom corrugated ribbing since I’ve got big hips and needed all the flexibility I could get in a knit. Bound off using double chain bindoff and size 6 DPN. The bottom hem is super stretchy with this bindoff, and it matches my cast-on (Chinese waistress cast-on) perfectly.

Mods:
-knitted first row of corrugated ribbing as k1 MC, K1 CC so there’s no garter corrugation in the first row.
-on the back armscye increases, I did them every 4 rows instead of every 2 as written, because it made for a really small and oddly-shaped armhole that didn’t match the back. This is because my stockinette row gauge was smaller than the designer’s, so my increases appeared too quickly on my fabric for how I knit.
-started the waist shaping around 4.5 inches after joining in the round.
-knitted the bottom corrugation 1” shorter than written because I was eager to finish joy

Tips on flat colorwork:
-Insteas of purling the WS rows in the bodice, I did backwards knitting, which made it a lot easier for me to do the colorwork flat and match the RS gauge. Look up backwards knitting on the Very Pink Knits YouTube page.
-anchoring stitches! You should definitely anchor the CC colorwork columns closest to the edge so they look tidy, but also so there’s no gap between the final two stitches every row. I anchored the final CC column the way I catch/trap a float.
-after five separate project frogs due to untidy FLAT colorwork, I decided to try the anchoring method next to EVERY cc column. And they look so much better! It keeps the CC stitches, which previously were loose and wobbly due to the long floats between each column, tucked into the right size stitch. And then you can always add extra ease to the float because the stitches have been anchored already. It’s ace, let me tell you.

Marling together the Qing Fibre Shusui with Kindred Red Tuff Stuff (natural with pink, orange, and black) to get a soft pastel fabric flecked with neons. I’m still deciding on my CC color though.

Changing gears, double marling!

frogged 8.28. Oops! Can’t seem to make up my mind!

Restarted with a color palette I am finally 100% satisfied with! Woohoo! I had this embroidered bed linens set that came in a matching bag, which I turned into my project bag for the Kemper top. So I grabbed my pale speckled blush “Kauai” skeins and dyed up the CC color that is a revamp of my colorway “No Pink Lemonade” to match the pale neon threads of the bag!
