My April sweater! I’m doing one sweater a month this year.

Sadly, not the most flattering for my body unless I wear a sports bra to flatten out, which I did for the photographs. Otherwise the stripes accentuate my chest more than I’d like.

Some notes:

• I found it very helpful to have a moving marker on the collar to denote where to turn and start another short row. Knit to that marker, pick it up, turn work, knit 4 stitches, then place the marker at that new spot. Knit back to it on the next row, and repeat.

• I used Elizabeth Zimmerman’s sewn bind-off on the hem so that the longer backside stayed loose and drapey. VERY important there, and less important on the front.

• I actually got turned around when going from the collar to the body, skipping a row somewhere, and realized when I got to the YO section that my collar was on BACKWARDS. At that point, I was too far along, so when I finished knitting the whole sweater, I cut off the collar and started over. Then I reattached with kitchener stitch.

• I knitted a size small (I wear a US 10 in real life), and it’s still pretty drapey! I dropped down my normal knitting size, and combined with my tight knitting I expected it to be a little smaller. Luckily it’s got the waist-cinching aspect going when I want it fitted.
