Notes

Will link pattern after it is announced. Which should be any time in the next 46 hours. YIKES!

Edit: 8PM
We’re off! Actually, been off and running for a few hours. :D I had to stop and restart three or four times before I could get the needles and the toe set up - I don’t think I’ve ever done an Judy’s Magic Cast-on with the second round done with the tail AND the working yarn to double the stitches. I’m a little concerned about the stretchiness of the toe start/end. I’m finished with the toe box and halfway up the foot, headed to the gusset.

02-17-2025

12:05AM: Okay, I’ve tried this on, 1/3 of the way up the gusset, and it’s going to be too large. I was afraid that my needle size was too much for this yarn, and I’m right. I’m okay with this, tho! It’s Day 1, and I have 13 days to go, and I got so far on 9 hours of work! Now that I know what I’m doing, it should only take me a day or so to catch up.

Restarted the toe on US2s, and stopped at the end of Toe Round 3. Just wanted to get it back on the needles.

02-23-2025

Been a busy busy week. Stopped for the evening/morning at the end of the gusset for Sock 1, I’ve done most of the foot and all of the gusset just today (2/22). Short row heel next!

02-24-2025 ca 1AM

Stopped for the day at the end of Repeat #2 Round 7 of the leg. I have 13 rounds plus one more full leg repeat to go before I finish Sock #1.

Wish I could find my smaller cable needle. I’m almost ready to use a toothpick!

Sad news about Joann’s. I’ll have to go soon to pick up some general supplies before they are gone during the closing sales.

Edit: I do not like how the cables look on the leg. I think I did something wrong. Going to go see if there is erreta and maybe sleep on it. Not a good feeling about this.

02-27-2025

Okay, so, I took a good look at the cables and they were crossed wrong. Ripped back to and tinked back to the beginning of Round 5 of the leg and began again.

I seriously doubt I will make it past Cheerleader again, since now we are slammed at work and there is no time to do anything but work and sleep. (Yes, it’s 3AM.) May not even make it to the joined section. I’m hoping that I can; as of this post I have 3 days, and a little less than 6 hours to at least make it to the end of the leg, which is about 60ish rounds away.

Stopped for the morning at the end of the first repeat or Round 13 of the leg. Sleep time.

03-01-2025

Stopped for the early AM (3:30! yikes) at the end of repeat 3 round 7. Plus! I don’t have to go in today, having already worked almost 30 hours of OT in the last week and a half. More time to at least get Sock #1 done and photographed.

I’ve had to tink back more than once, as getting distracted as to where I was crossing what cable is not a good idea for a tired brain. I have about 29 hours left to get to Cheerleader status.

Sleep first.

03-02-2025

Well, I’m 11 rows into the ribbing on Sock #2, and it’s T-minus 8 hours from the deadline. May have made it to Cheerleader! Now I need to send my pics on and see if they are okay.

Edit. 4:30AM: I’m a Cheerleader! Thanks Moderators (Isabelle) for approving my single sock plus. Back to sleep.

03-03-2025

Now that I’m a cheerleader, I’m progressing with sock #2 and it’s a lot less stressful. I stopped for the evening at the 6th row of the 3rd repeat. I don’t know what row number it is because I have the chart upside down so I guess I’m stopping at the start of round six? Of course the craziness at work is now also over, so I should have plenty of time this week to finish sock #2 and then separate them. I’ll probably have a finished pair of socks maybe by the end of the week. If I don’t get distracted. Ahem

We don’t know what the name of the cheerleader team is yet, but it looks like the theme this year is sea creatures! For all I know will be team bottom of the ocean or something. haha.

I’m having to write this post via voice on my phone because my home internet is out until 6 AM according to my service provider. Yay.

Edit: The cheerleaders team is The Reef!!!! Woohoo!!! tadatada

03-05-2025

Just a couple of rounds. The person who (supposedly) is the president of the US is a moron. I need to go to sleep and wake up in early November 2028.

Stopped halfway thru the 3rd repeat on the leg.

03-07-2025

Stopped early AM about halfway or so down the gusset heading for the toe…

03-08-2025

Tis midnight, and I’ve just started the foot after the gusset. About 50 rounds to go to end of sock!

03-09-2025

Completed primary knitting and grafted toe. I will tackle the separation surgery tomorrow.

03-11-2025

Phew! Don’t like picking up and knitting ‘down’ on ribbing. Took me 45 minutes to do the first sock (mostly because it was the ‘right’ way), and almost 2 hours to do the second due to direction of the stitches, but I’m DONE! wooooo!!!

Think I’ll wait a day or three to tackle Day & Night.
