Making this out of a ton of scrap yarn. But now that I’ve started, I’m actually wondering if I have enough! I have to hold a lot of it double, and on an 8mm hook it uses up a LOT of yarn! Ah well - I have plenty more scraps where that first lot came from!

Also, this would make the cutest baby jacket! Right now it’s about 30cm per edge - I might have to play around a bit with that and substitute my go-to baby surprise jacket for this.

I only did 2ch in each corner and no ch between clusters. The holes are plenty big as it is!

Think I finished the first hexagon now. I’m going to copy what others did and only work the hexagon until the sleeves fit (and then add extra width to the back and chest to make it fit), so I just need to pin it up and try it on.

I absolutely love the project, and am feeling so accomplished to be using up as many of my scraps as I am :-D I even get to use my handspun!

I did 14 rounds for the hexagons which gave me the sleeve width I liked. I seamed the shoulders (using sc on WS) and added another 5 rounds for the three remaining sides before seaming together (using mattress stitch - could have been prettier, but oh well….). Now to add additional length.

Finished! Weighs 830g total and is waaaay too warm for this time of year, but I adore it!
