This challenged me a bit due to I had a sample of the stocking and pattern my friend gave me was very old and I ended up buying a copy of it on Etsy. I changed the toe as it was a little different than the pattern I had. I also changed the face a little. My first stocking (Frankie), I ended up ripping the toe out and redid it. The face is a little different too. When I made Joey’s it was a lot easier. I am not fond of intarsia, and found it too thick. I ended up carrying over only two stitches and had to remember not to pull too tightly.

I started the white of the toe when “Shaping the Toe”. I think it looks better too. I also changed the closure of the toe to Kitchener, I think it looks better too.

First photo is both stockings. 2nd photo is the example I had to go by. 5th photo is the toe I ripped out as it did not match sample stocking I was given and changed it slightly.

8-10-24: Last of the stockings which took me awhile (March-August), as I was forgetting how to finish. But I got through Mia’s.

Starting with RED: K1, P1 for 4 rows
Change to White, work 2 rows (K, P, K rows)THEN start NAME on Knit row. For longer names, start on 3rd stitch.

Note again: Start white of toe at “SHAPING TOE”.

5-25: Madeline’s stocking I started sometime in March 2025. I finished knitting it early May 2025.
I-cord stocking hanger, I did 3stitch I-cord and made it about 3” long, then sewed it back on beginning of picking up 3sts.

8-25: I finished Lilly’s stocking and her looks like Santa went on a diet next to Madeline’s. I will do over Lilly’s and not knit it as tight. I’m not happy with it. I have 1 more to make. Seems like they are getting worse as I knit them. ‍
