Notes

Loved this just as much the second time around. What a joy to stitch!

Here’s a link to the first one I made: Joey’s Avalon Blanket. All my pattern adjustments are the same. I made only a couple:
-The first is that I began with 144 foundation dc instead of chaining 146.
-The other is that I carried the unused yarn up the sides to minimize the ends.

Because I was using larger yarn here, the blanket naturally finished larger, which was what I wanted, so I didn’t have to make any adjustments for that. I did the same number of stitches across & the same number of repeats up as the first time.

Unfortunately, I had my same age old problem of shifting gauge during the project, so one end is a little wider than the other. That bothers me so much, but I don’t know how to prevent it. So many of my blankets end up lopsided. Such a bummer. The first time I made it, it came out more even than this one.

I really do like these yarns, both of them. They’re very soft, and they work well together, as they have a similar feel to each other.

I like the way the ombre has a more gradual color change than most of the other cake yarns like this, but it might not have been the best choice for this particular project. The color didn’t change often enough to get any variation within the strips. Practically all of the strips were fully dark, with just a little bit of the lighter color in a couple of the strips and around the edge. It’s still very pretty, but I would have liked a little more variation to the strips.
