Notes

Began with Karbonz DPN’s but couldn’t see the black yarn on them! So I switched to 40” Chiaogoo.
Then switched to 16”fixed circs (Chiaogoo) after completion of the crown.
Crochet hook size D (3.25 mm) for the cast on.

I used the Crochet Pinhole Cast On / Emily Ocker Cast On (I can’t really tell the difference between these two), which is like the crochet magic circle.

Crown:
Skein beginning weight: 99.7 gr
31 total rounds (omitting round 6 after increase #13).
14 Increase rounds, excluding the initial kfb round, INCLUDING the final increase round after 3 plain rounds
32 sts per section
Total stitches: 128
Yarn remaining: 92.8 gr
Yarn used for crown: 6.9 gr

Straight Section:
190 rounds even
Approx 21” from cast on. I wanted to use up more of the yarn, and make the hat a little longer.
Approx 11.5 gr remaining.
Using approx. 4.5 gr per 10 rounds
I could have gone a little further, but my weights are approximate, and I really didn’t want to play yarn chicken.

Decrease Section:
Round 1: 120 sts remaining (30 per section)
3 rounds even
Round 5: 112 sts remaining (28 per section)
1 round even
Round 7: 104 sts remaining/26 per section
Round 9: 96 sts/24 per
Round 11: 88 sts/22 per
Round 13: 80 sts/20 per
Round 15: 72 sts/18 per
Round 17: 64 sts/16 per
Round 19: 56 sts/14 per
Round 21: 48 sts/12 per
Round 23: 40 sts/10 per
Round 25: 32 sts/8 per
Round 27: 24 sts/6 per
Round 29: 16 sts/4 per
Round 31: 8 sts remain

Approx measurements before blocking:
Width: 8.75”
Length: 23”

All photos are before blocking.

I started this as a travel project to bring to Tucson for Caroline’s wedding. Never touched it!
Then I brought it for my next trip to Vegas. Never touched it!
I guess I’m not much of a travel knitter, ‘cause this is a great travel project.
Then I brought it to a few knit night types of things. It’s nice to have something like this to grab and go with, but progress was very slow and I just kind of wanted it off the needles. Once I picked it back up, it went very quickly. This is a great pattern, and a very enjoyable knit!
