Work in slip 1, purl 1 across. Do the same on the wrong side, purl the slipped stitches and slipping the purled stitches.

Apparently when using the same yarn to knit this way it creates a double knit fabric in St st. And here I was just trying to be clever and make a more interesting ribbed fabric. Still looks very nice, doesn’t roll, and is now twice as warm.

Yay for unintentionally learning new knitting techniques!
