Notes

Crossbreed fleece 1/4 Texel, 3/4 Border Leicester, Coopworth, Corriedale, Finn Raw fleece purchased on eBay 4.5#, staple length 3-4” avg, some longer. Nice locks good crimp. Variable lock shapes: really skinny to nicely plump. Washes easily, not too much lanolin. Combed fiber is bouncy, wee bit of shine, very nice hand.

Spinning for 3ply woolen yarn from hand carded rolags. Comb or flick first then card. Aiming for 12-15 wpi DK wt. Spinning enough for a sweater.

Spinning started Apr 19
Fourteen bobbins (4&5”) spun by Apr 26 (batch1)
Plying started Apr 27 (This is going to make a really lovely yarn - probably worsted wt instead of DK, but that’s ok). Skeins 1 thru 6 plied Apr 27/28. Skeins 7&8 plied Apr29. 13 & half bobbins used. Batch 1 yardage: 272yds 3ply (816 yds Singles). WPI 8 Aran/heavy Worsted

Batch2 carding & spinning started Apr 29 (3 bobbins/day); plying started May 3, finished May 5. Batch 2 = 6 skeins (#9-14)

Batch 3 carding & spinning started May 4; plying started May 11, Finished May 14. Batch3= 5 skeins (#15-19) 123 yds 3ply Fr 369 yds Singles.

Batch 4 spinning started Aug 18

9/9: plied two skeins (B4) abt 162 yds total. Still have ten ounces to wash and combing & carding, and about ten bobbins left to ply.

9/12: two more bobbins worth spun
9/14: another bobbin spun

9/15: FINALLY finished washing fleece

9/16: plied 2 more skeins (B4) abt 136 yds 3ply total.
Batch 4 four skeins (#20-23) total ydg abt 268

Batch 5: I think theres enough fiber left to get another 3 or 4 skeins worth. Spinning Sept 17 (3 bobbins); Sept 19 (4 bobbins); finished spinning Sept 23. Total 18 bobbins to ply. Finished plying Sept 24. Yay!!!! 3 more skeins (#24-26) 272 yds 3ply, 816 yds singles.
