Notes

This pattern looks perfect for several different colours of really soft alpaca I have in my stash. This is such soft yarn, I just have to use it. There are only small quantities left of most of the colors so it has to be stripes. I just hope they look ok together. I might have to adjust the stripes a little though, as I would like a bit more length and with long sleeves for winter.

This is such an interesting pattern. I can’t seem to stop knitting…. Just one more stripe!

I didn’t do the short rows on the second big stripe. Oops.

I’ve stopped the body, and started on the sleeves to make sure that I have enough of the rosegrey to match both sleeves. And I need to keep a little bit for use on the body. I’m positive I’m going to run out of this colour. I might also need to alter the bottom using more stripes than the pattern calls for.

I’ve had to rethink the colour for the lower part of the body as I don’t think I will have enough of the dark brown left. So now it will be the straw colour as I have more of that. Fingers crossed.

The arms are done and now I’m sure I’m going to run out of the straw colour too, so I’m extending the stripes a bit further down the body. I hope it doesn’t look too busy…

I love the 3:1 rib on the cuffs. It looks so neat. Much better than my normal 2:2 rib. I think I might use this from now on.

And I did run completely out of the straw with only part of a row to go! This caused me no end of trouble. I re knit and tinked back 3 times!

I tried using one of the other colors as the bind off but it didn’t look right. So I undid it. I had no choice but to undo the last row of each sleeve (sigh) to retrieve the extra tiny bits of yarn so I could complete the bind off on the body. There was only 10cm of yarn left when I finished. Phew!

And then… when I tried it on…. the bind off was too tight! Grrr! Soooo… I undid the knit section (5 rows) which rolls and redid it on 4mm needles (only 4 rows). The bind off was done on 4.5mm needles.

It’s finally finished, yay.

I like it…. but I do think it would have looked better if the stripes were as per the pattern, and if I’d had more of the straw colour for the bottom of the body. Oh well, never mind. This cleared 2 items out of my stash, which is a very good thing.

It’s incredibly soft and feels wonderful against my skin.

I just have to sew in all the ends. Pics to follow.
