Stash busting, so this will be a very colourful jumper, dictated by the quantities of Alafosslopi in my stash. I’ve had my eye on this pattern for ages, but it’s a little outside my comfort zone with being worried about those sleeves! And it’s short, but I will make it a little longer.
Floats kept to 3 and 2 stitches mostly. There were a few 4’s but not many.
Remember to make sure your patterns are centred! Haha. I changed the top crosses, and then was stuck with them being off centre to the main pattern! But I wasn’t undoing it all! So when I’ve finished I will do the fiddly job of removing those 3 rounds and knitting them again, and joining it all back up. Note to self: do not do this again! It takes far too long!
My gauge is off so I’m using Febr12’s very helpful mods. 9 main motifs instead of 10. I know the Alafosslopi spreads out a fair bit, especially in my colourwork, with washing.
I ran short of the Chartreuse Green Heather and had to modify the last zig zag band a little.
Using centred double decreases down the sleeves every 4th row once past the pattern sections. And because I have bands of colour, I did short rows on the backs of the sleeves to match the back of the jumper. This works well as they end up near the elbow so it makes it easier to bend your arm. Haha.
Finishing the first sleeve before finishing the body. I think I will try a purl row before the knit rows that curl up, and the rows that curl are purled so they curl inwards, and see if that stops the rest of the body curling too much. Fingers crossed. Update: This worked beautifully on the body once it was washed.
It’s still a bit wet, but I tried it on anyway, and I am soooo happy. I also made a hat with the leftovers.
Gauge:
Pre-wash = 15.5 Sts, 21 rows.
Post-wash = 14.5 sts, 22 rows.
