Notes

The Kerttu lace pattern looks impressive but is very easy and works well with many sock constructions.

For both pairs of socks, I used a top down sock method, with heel flap (went down a needle size for tighter fit at the heel flap). I made a 2” cuff using ktbl, p rib . I used the same rib for the back of the sock.

The men’s socks have a 9” leg and the women’s a 8” leg. I have curvy legs- and the ribbed back allowed me to put some shaping into the calf.

I used Fiberjinx’s tutorial on how to avoid gusset holes (http://fiberjinx.wordpress.com/2007/01/17/explication/). It worked! First time I didn’t have gusset holes in a pair of knitted socks.

The lace pattern works for men’s or women’s socks (the grey pair is for my husband) and for fingering or worsted weight yarn. I actually preferred how the pattern knit up in worsted weight.
