Knit them all with slight mods to find improvements on the pattern. Couldn’t really find any worth changing the pattern for. Starting the ears 2 rows earlier was a bit nice for the ear placement, but it makes them stick back a bit too much on the hat when worn maybe?

Modifications I tried:

• twisted rib throughout: prob the best-looking mod
• 2x2 rib on hem: doesn’t flow into ribbing area as nicely
• 3 cable repeats: cables don’t lay quite as nice
• varied # of k rows between cr’s: cables don’t lay as nicely
• dec pattern on backs of ears: more visible
• dec sts on rib w/o going down a needle size: this was fine, maybe dec 4 or more, but it messed up the set-up row a lot.
• start ears 2 rows lower: was a bit nice for the ear placement, but it makes them stick back a bit too much on the hat when worn maybe?

Knit for uniforms for The Chocolate Garage. Each hat used about 1.3 skeins. This yarn is great but I think Thick & Quick has better stitch definition and a perfect sized skein.
