CO the smaller size. I wish I could have found a way to CO using the tubular cast-on for 2-at-a-time magic loop socks because I did a 15-round 2x2 rib cuff instead of the lace mesh cuff. The tubular CO would have looked awesome. If I were a more confident sock knitter I would tackle these as toe-up but the pattern is written cuff-down and I don’t feel my skills are quite there to work the pattern backwards.

Now that I’m several rounds into the pattern I can really see the difference between the lot numbers of my two hanks. It’s not drastic and once I’m wearing them it will be fine, that’s what I get for changing my mind on a pattern and buying two hanks months apart ;)

I’m still working on these babies, slowly, but still working. Other things have come up so I’ve been knitting these when I need a break. I just realized I haven’t mentioned anywhere on here that I’m making them KNEE-LENGTH lol. That’s why I needed the two hanks, there was definitely not enough in one hank for two knee-high socks.

Decided that almost knee-high was close enough, really I was ready to move on to the heel and foot. These come about halfway up my shin and it’s actually good I chose the smaller size because I have a feeling they will stay up better at this length than the larger ones would have. The garter stitch short row heel is actually pretty fun and easy, I may use it in the future for other socks!

Challenge Description: I work for a movie producer who is always keeps the sets freezing cold because ones the lights are on, it can get unbearably hot. These socks are to help keep my feet warm and toasty before the lights go on but aren’t so thick and heavy that once the set heats up I will be peeling them off. My job on set is as a PA (Production Assistant) and we’re basically like slaves at the mercy of the director, producer, AND actors. It’s rough. But at the end of the day (usually a 14-hour day) it’s so rewarding because I get to go home and tell friends “I combed Sean Connery’s beard” or “I fed Brad Pitt a sandwich because he couldn’t move in his suit of armor”.
Team Tie In: the light blue of the socks was inspired by the light blue-ish tint that K9’s metallic body has when out in the sun.
