Hmm…I’m going to have to put some effort into figuring out when I started this hat. I blocked it on 12/24/2010, and it looked great, but the ribbing was stretched out too much. I’m going to add some stockinette before the ribbing to see if that helps. But…I have to figure out what size needle I used. Why do I seem to have such a hard time keeping up with this stuff?

Ah, okay, I found something. It looks like I blocked it for the first time on 12/20. It must have come out too big that time. And I found when I started it, too. Since I don’t have any notes that say otherwise, I’m going to assume that I used the size needles that were recommended. The hat starts with the brim, so it may be difficult to rework it, but I think I’ve got a plan.

Okay, on 1/13, I did some “surgery” and detached the ribbing, added in about an inch of stockinette, and grafted it back together. It’s my first time doing something like that, but I had it all planned out well, and it couldn’t have gone better. I actually threaded small circular needles through as my lifelines before I took it apart.

Due to various circumstances, I haven’t gotten around to blocking it until today. It should be dry tomorrow. I can wait to see how it turns out!

It’s blocked again, and it looks a lot better! I’m really glad I took the time to do it. This is definitely one I’ll wear!
