I ran out of yarn yesterday, just before finishing the second half. Then, of course, I still had a small border to do! But I think it’s good that it happened that way, because it was going to be enormous. I had been doing 7 chart repeats plus 2 rows for each half, and I reduced it to 5 chart repeats plus 2 rows for each half.
I grafted it this morning, and I’ve picked out the cast on and started on the border. I definitely should have paid attention and used a provisional cast on. The pattern doesn’t explicitly state that you should.

I finished the knitting tonight! Also, I was visiting my parents, and my mom said it was pretty. I asked her if she would use it if I gave it to her, and she said she would! I’m glad it’s going to have a purpose. I just have to weave in the ends and block it now.

Okay, it’s blocked! It’s huge, but I think it turned out well.
I made my own chart for the edging, because I think the one provided was wrong. Here’s what I did.

Row 2: Sl1 (pwise wyif), k3, yo, k5, yo, ssk, yo, k2.
Row 3: K2, p11, k1, k2togtbl
Row 4: Sl1, k4, k2tog, k2, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1.
Row 5: k2, p9, k1,
Row 6: Sl1, k3, k2tog, k2, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1.
