This is my first blanket for charity, so I’m kind of excited about it. But…I’m sorry…this pattern is kind of boring. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure it would be a lot of fun with more exciting yarn, and definitely with bulky yarn…hmm…I might try that, actually. But with this yarn and size 6 needles? Not so much. I almost never quit, though, so I’ve been working on it a lot, just to get it over with.

Okay, I’m quitting…kind of. It’s still too small. I may find a wide knitted border for it, or I may crochet one. (Yeah, I know, the whole thing is a border. Get over it.)

I looked around for borders, but I didn’t see anything good that had instructions for turning corners. It wouldn’t be a big deal if it was a simple border, but I can’t come up with something that would look good with the patterns I picked out. So I’m trying to come up with a border on my own. It’s going slowly so far…

I bought the Harmony Guide Crochet Edgings & Trims on Saturday, and after lots of swatching, I chose the “Arrowhead Fans” edging, and I’m using an H hook. It doesn’t have corners, but I could figure them out easily enough. I’m excited about finishing it!
My local knit & crochet group has just started working on getting a fundraiser for St. Jude ready, and we’re making items to donate, too, so this is really good timing.
Later…
I’m so happy to be done! That edging really does make it look a lot bigger for some reason.
