One of the challenges for NerdWars in August is to finish one or two WIPs. This is something I’d particularly like to get done soon, so it is one of my candidates for this challenge. The picture showing one full sock plus the bare beginnings of the second is my record shot of the starting point, in case I do get these done.

I finished the first sock a few days ago. The body of the sock and the heel are very satisfying. There was some trouble with the toe being too tight. I reknit, adding extra rows between increases and leaving more stitches to Kitchener at the end, and it now seems satisfactory. Not sure whether the pattern should reflect this or a more standard toe, because I don’t know why the problem occurred. Cast on and did the ribbing of the second sock on Thursday. Have now been captivated by one of my older WIPs, my Intriguing Alternations. As soon as I get onto the body of the foot on my second sock there, I’ll be back to this one.

Meg dyed some yarn that she bought specially for her father’s socks in Hijinx, a club colorway he liked a lot. This yarn contains nylon, which is good for his socks.
I’m making a sock featuring a texture pattern plus one of Annie Maloney’s cables. It’s a lot of action for a colorway that has a lot going on itself. But I like it a lot so far.
