Purchased kit from A Verb for Keeping Warm. Looking forward to doing this in real-time with everyone else.

Yarn arrived earlier this week with a partial clue. Clue 1 dropped yesterday and I finished knitting it today. I’m quite happy with how the garter is working out.

2021-04-15

Added beads under the reverse mullet stitch, using the strategy I saw on the discussion board by MyEyesAreUpHere. I had already knitted the clue, so I had to go back, drop a stitch down to the reverse mullet, add the bead, and ladder back up in garter. It was 22 beads and about 5(?) garter ridges. Not really a big deal. The beads are a little wonky and the laddering a little uneven, but I have no doubt that it will all block out in the end.

Finished Chart C. Added a good number of beads, inspired by the beading I did on the 2020 MKAL shawl (which was inspired by mswolpe).

In Row 9, added a bead to the stitch after completing the reverse mullet (the single stitch created by dec3).

In Row 11, added a bead to the stitch between the two ktbl stitches in the motif.

In Rows 13, 15, and 17, added a bead to the kt2og and ssk stitches that are flanked by yarn-overs.

  • for k2tog, bead the 2nd stitch and then k2tog
  • for ssk, ead the 1st stitch and then ssk

In Row 17, also added a bead to the stitch under the reverse mullet (the single stitch created by dec5).

2021-04-19 Chart D Beading Notes

Row 1: bead every ssk and k2tog, using technique described above.

Row 3: bead sk2p after completing the stitch.

Row 11: bead dec5 after completing the stitch

Rows 13-17: bead stitch to the k2tog and ssk stitches that are flanked by yarn-overs as above.

Row 17: bead sk2p after completing stitch.

Row 19: bead every ssk and k2tog, using technique described above.

Row 21: bead sk2p after completing stitch.

After Clue 2 is complete, I had 42g of C1 remaining.

2021-05-04

Completed Clue 2 again, because I tore up my yarn attempting to remove beads. This time, I placed the beads where I really wanted them (not running parallel to the edges). Because of the yarn destroyed attempting to remove beads, I have 33g of C1 remaining now.

2021-08-03 Finished Clue 4

I finished Clue 4, adding beads along the diagonals using the techniques already described. Now I’ve got a diamond pattern in the beads. I might be using too many beads….

Remaining C2 after finishing Clue 4: 48g

I ran out Mariposa yarn in the bind-off. But I found some people who had remnants and were able to send me some. Yay!
