Notes

Mods:

  • did the bands in red
  • did the colours pieces up top as a sorta intarsia. It was too much carrying the colours behind -like the gray cause it covered up any of the blue bleeding.

They were too small although hard blocking helped. But next time would go up a size in needles.

I can’t tell how much of each skein was used as the final weights are almost the same as the starting weight. The final weight of the pair of mittens is 90g- mostly the blue and grey with probably about 10 yards of the red.

I picked grey instead of the white because I thought it would be more mellow but can’t decide if I was right or not. The yarn did not bleed, however I blocked with lots of colour catcher sheets and they were full of colour, as was the towel I wrung them out on. Better there than on my knitting

Camp Loopy

I love the book! Now the mitterns…

“The fog’s just lifting. Throw off your bow line; throw off your stern. You head out to South channel, past Rocky Neck, Ten Pound Island. Past Niles Pond where I skated as a kid. Blow your air-horn and throw a wave to the lighthouse keeper’s kid on Thatcher Island. Then the birds show up: black backs, herring gulls, big dump ducks. The sun hits ya - head North. Open up to 12 - steamin’ now. The guys are busy; you’re in charge. Ya know what? You’re a goddam swordboat captain! Is there any thing better in the world?”

Nerd Wars Team Bite Me tie-in:
Vampirates is a series of books by British author Justin Sompers. The term Vampirate refers to a vampire living on the pirate ship, the Nocturne.
