Notes

This is the second granny stripe blanket I’ve finished this fall. I completed this one just in time for my dear mother-in-law’s 80th birthday. I love using the Red Heart With Love yarn for a granny stripes blanket as it is a bit bulkier and makes a nice, warm afghan perfect for winter’s chilly nights.

Border
I made a row of Primavera flower granny squares and then sewed them to the top of the granny stripe blanket. Then I did one row of doubles all the way around, followed by the “peek through” aqua single crochet with the aubergine singles “covering” it. (That technique explained here: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2012/12/interlocking-ri....) Then another row of dark purple single crochet to prep for the shells. I finished with the shells in lilac, which is the main color of the blanket, so I wanted to pick that up again.
