Fun pattern with great instructions. I love the woven look of the blanket - the stitching is all very close without any of the “holes” that are in some crocheted afghans (think: granny squares). This is for my newest great-niece. I finished it one day before the due date!

As the pattern suggested, I carried the yarn up the side of the project so there were just a few ends to work in. Love that! You can’t tell at all once the border is on.

I wanted a wider border that really framed the blanket, so I ended up doing the following:

Round 1: A row of single crochet all the way around
Round 2: A row of double
Round 3: Another row of single
Round 4: One row of reverse single crochet

Overall the blanket was rather slow to work up for me (because of the thin baby yarn--not the pattern, which I highly recommend!).

I also chose this pattern because I’ve made the “Leaping Stripes and Blocks” hat a few times and I love the pattern for that. I completed a little newborn hat to go with the blanket.
