You are guaranteed adorableness if you try this great pattern!

I’ve seen some notes about the turtles not standing up well because their heads are too heavy. I find if mine are “tipping” over, then all I need to do is to “fluff” up the front feet by squeezing them so they are taller. They get mashed down when my son plays with them and that makes them tip over. It’s an easy fix.

I also starting the head and the body with a magic circle, and I sewed the head to the body before stuffing the body. It was a lot easier to sew it on that way and to hide the yarn tail.

Changing colors for the rounds is also very easy to do because you can just “drop” the last color (keeping it attached to the yarn ball), and pick it up when you are ready to use that color again. No need to sew in any ends at all. Just double knot them so they won’t unravel, and clip them short. After all, no one sees the inside of the turtle!

I used “safety eyes,” for their eyes, which I finally found at my local Jo-Ann Crafts. They were extremely hard to get to on--you really have to push the washer down hard to “click” it in place.

The turtles come together very quickly and I’ve found that everyone just adores them!
