Finished the dress many weeks ago, stuck with the collar.
The petals are shaped with german short rows which is very cool and neat, however, I have an issue understanding the pattern going up with the petals. The instruction says to repeat 1-19 rows again, however, this would form another petal center in between two existing petals, and I just don’t get how it can produce the nice finishing seen in the pictures. The other knitters seem to have had no problem with it - I find no comments or noted modifications. This is driving me nuts!
After playing with short rows a little, I ripped it off and now I am just going back and forth through the whole collar. On the sides of each petal, I just ssk the last 2 sts of the petal and k2tog the first two sts on the right side, and I do the decreases on the purl side, too - p2tog, ssp to achieve a sharper angle between the petals.
as soon as I have 12 sts per petal, I will k2tog all the way through and will connect the collar to the dress.
Several days ago, I have pm’ed the designer, too - maybe I will get more insightful advise on what the heck I am _actually_ supposed to be doing here :)
cannot wait with this any longer, the winter will soon be over and I need to make sure my little princess has a new dress for the kindy :)
