• Use German Twist/Old Norwegian cast-on
• knit one full row in blue after switching colours (to hide ugly wraps)
• knit 22sts, place marker to indicate new start of round, then start Row 1 (to place my yarn tails at the back)
• i-cord “whiskers”
• garter stitch body with stockinette to separate segments
• slip stitch crochet to seam the body panels together
• crocheted spines? (more structure)
• knitted scales (maybe attach them instead of intarsia)
• unsure if I should add face protrusions
• tail should be at least 2m long

size 7/4.5mm needles on fish hat
size 8/5mm needles on garter scarf
E/3.5mm hook for brow spike things and eyes
G/4.25mm hook for side fins
F/3.75mm hook for back spines

Face Fins

With white yarn and G/4.25mm hook (or preferred hook size)

Fin#1:
Set Up: Chain 22
Row 1: skip 1st ch, sc 21
Row 2: sc 1, fpsc 6, fphdc 7, fpdc 7
Row 3: sc 7, hdc 7, dc 7
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 seven times, fasten off

Fin #2:
With white yarn and F/3.75mm hook (or preferred hook size)
Set Up: Chain 22
Row 1: skip 1st ch, sc 21
Row 2: sc 1, bpsc 6, bphdc 7,bp dc 7
Row 3: sc 7, hdc 7, dc 7
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 seven times, fasten off

Then I used a bigger hook and blue yarn to single crochet along the inside and upper edges of the fins
