Followed pattern as written with the exception of the following modifications:
Rows 8, 15, and 22- Due to a mistake I made in row 8, I just continued with it in rows 15 and 22. ( I did BLO HDC for these rows).
After switching to the G hook, I only crocheted rows 27-30, as the hat had enough slouch for me at this point.

This pattern was very easy to follow, just make sure you use a stitch marker as suggested. Love how lightweight, but warm the hat is. I would definitely recommend this pattern!
