I made each piece flat in rows, including the sleeves. Slip stitching across the shoulders for strength and seaming from the sleeve cuffs up the sleeves to armpit and back down the sides of the sweater using the mattress stitch.

This pattern is very easy to understand and well written, and most importantly, my granddaughter loves her new sweater!
