Oh my God. I am in love with this shawl. Only an hour into the pattern, and it already looks sooo beautiful and it’s great brainless tv time knitting! bounces with happiness
Um…this is going to be a long project. Tonight I watched like, three episodes of Fringe in a row, and yet I’ve still got 95 grams of yarn left. Oh wow.
Also, the pattern makes the shawl tend to curl on itself, which the designer mentions, but because I’m knitting this out of superwash yarn, that means that it won’t block well. I just found out yesterday on the Ravelry boards that superwash doesn’t block, and boy am I glad that I didn’t start any real lace projects in superwash! Else I’d be peeved. Luckily, this shawl is going to be nice and nubbly, and the pattern itself is what holds the shape together. Since it’ll be an everyday sort of shawl to keep warm with, it’ll wear well and be easy to clean. I’m smarter than I knew.
Also, it’s cold, so I keep knitting this faster and faster, in the hopes that eventually it will be large enough to wrap around my cold back. I guess I should go put a cardigan on, huh?
I get bored with this project and I’ll set it down for like, two weeks before picking it up a knitting a few rows. At this rate I’ll be done with it by…what? December? It’s February and I have 79 grams of yarn left. Oy.
So, the circular needles I was using were too short and made of metal. When I reached the point where I was dropping stitches, I knew that I needed to get myself a set that was longer. I found a pair of Crystal Palace bamboo circs in the same needle size on eBay and promptly bought them. I absolutely LOVE how the needle has a joint and twists around. Anyways, the advent of the new needle inspired me to knit more. As of Feb. 21, I have only 56 grams left. Yey! Halfway there.
