I had already crocheted 1/3 of the blanket/play rug when I had the idea to measure it: much too long.
I considered: There would never have been enough yarn.
When I was ripping, I realized that I could take a picture, this one shows about 1/4 of the size of the intended blanket.
I work with the last cotton yarn donated by Waltraud.
What I noticed when I was crocheting: a ball of black yarn fuzzed terribly, the photo of the sweater may serve as a reference, luckily I had a cover on the sofa.
When I was ripping it also fuzzed, the yarn kept breaking and I threw the ball away. Waltraud had warned me, but I didn’t want to throw it away for the time being.
To avoid another disaster with too little yarn, I decided to crochet a pattern from the inside out. I chose a mosaic pattern that I had wanted to make for a long time anyway. This works while reading.

Ich hatte schon 1/3 der Decke/Teppich fertig gehäkelt, als ich einmal auf die Idee kam, sie auszumessen: viel zu lang.

Als ich beim Ribbeln war, stellte ich fest, dass ich noch ein Foto machen könnte, dieses zeigt ca. 1/4 der beabsichtigten Decke.
Es ist das letzte Baumwoll-Spendengarn von Waltraud, eine Riesenkiste kommt zum Ende.

Was ich beim Häkeln bemerkt hatte: ein Knäuel Schwarz fusselte fürchterlich, als Beleg mag das Foto vom Pullover dienen, zum Glück hatte ich auf dem Sofa eine Unterlage.
Beim Ribbeln fusselte es genauso, das Garn riss auch ständig, ich warf das Knäuel weg. Waltraud hatte mich gewarnt, aber wegwerfen wollte ich erstmal nicht.
Um nicht wieder ein Desaster mit zu wenig Garn zu erzeugen, entschloss ich mich, ein Muster von innen nach außen zu häkeln. Ich wählte ein Mosaikmuster, das ich sowieso schon lange anfertigen wollte. Das funktioniert während ich lese.*
