Several years ago I saw a picture of the Revolution afghan in a blog and I printed it out to reflect about the pattern some day. I didn’t know then that you could buy a pattern of this coverlet.
When my second nephew was “in progress” I decided to make him an afghan because he would have many knitted clothes from his siblings and cousins.
I picked up the picture, circle and pencil and drew a sketch. I reflected on the “making of” and swatched.
Then I had to arrange the different amounts of colour to a regular impression.
This was my interpretation of building the form of
“Taifun”
I began with triangles and added irregular trapezia.
The trapezia have increases on the left side
I experimented a lot and found out how to put the modules together without sewing.
All yarn was used up in the border
I don’t know whether my technique is the same as in the original pattern because I never saw one.
The name “Taifun” was given to the coverlet because of the special whirl.
Many thanks to Woolly Thoughts for this great inspiration!
