Project:
I like how this pattern makes use of hand-painted yarn. I want to wear the ready garment asap, will make a nice addition to my wardrobe for the spring (have to hurry, it´s almost spring here).
Just subscribed to Interweave Knits, this being my second magazine. I like several patterns, but this one being my first encounter with a written pattern, I have difficulties.
The pattern was somewhat unclear to me, but after asking Cecily I understand now. This is what I should do:
Yoke part
(RS) … RSL, sl m, RSL on 4 places = 8 st inc on every (RS) row for 32 times (my size). On (WS) simply purl.
Then
(RS) as above once (8 st inc) followed by
(WS) … pf&b, sl m, pf&b on 4 places = 8 st inc once (my size).
Gauge of original: 25x34 is 4 inches
My gauge: 22 x 32 st = 10 cm
On target horizontally ( I am 42” bust but make size 40.5”) and added two rows vertically.
4 Mar: Done with yoke (so far so good).
6 Mar: Added two extra short rows under the bust.
8 Mar: Started adding some side shaping to the lower bodice.
11 Mar: Started with sleeves, when they are ready I can just knit until out of yarn.
30 Mar: Almost ready, I made it a bit longer to accommodate my body type and proportions. Waved in a thread on the back side of the neckline (stockinette part only) and pulled tighter to prevent it from stretching (looked sloppy without).
4 Apr: Ready, I love it! A small bulge at my armpit is a bit annoying, otherwise perfect.
It’s a lovely garment to wear every day to work, free time, whenever wherever. I am very happy with the result!
Yarn:
I love it! A waste to use it for socks, it gives a nice dense but thin fabric suitable for summer garments. Lovely colors too. Does not pill much (I have been using the cardi for a while). Unfortunately after a washing accident (wrong program) it felted to half of the original size. I’ll have to knit another one…
