Notes

About a year ago I picked up these Wooly Wonka yarns in Taos. At the time I was making camisoles and thought that’s what they would be. When Andrea released the pullover pattern for Dissent and the World started to shutdown, I knew I needed to make this sweater.

Looking for the Wooly Wonka yarn was getting challenging, so looking closer at some purchases from December in Durango, I jumped in with the idea of alternating colors in a gradient kind of pattern.

I didn’t realize until I was finishing up the yoke that I’d been holding the main color (background colors of turquoise) dominant. Used the larger 3mm needles for the color work.

Added modified version of the yoke pattern around the cuffs, holding the contrast color, Unicorn and light turquoise dominant.

Decided to knit the sleeves first to be sure I didn’t run out of any yarn and did not change off the 2.5mm used for the background (makes the sleeves a little tight, so probably should have used larger needle). Just finished the second sleeve (4/20) and am moving back into the main body, which I think will have some shaping and fade to purple with brown ribbing.

(5/2 update) after washing/blocking the sleeves relaxed just fine. The turquoise did bleed into the white of the unicorn a little bit. Because of how the fabric relaxed, using the smaller needles for the color work on the sleeves, worked great. Did add extra rows before dividing sleeves from body. Next time may keep closer to the pattern.
