I saw that kits were back up at the Wool Warehouse. They had 78. I went to show it to my friends at a knit group, and there were only 2 left. I refreshed my screen and there was 1. I clicked buy as fast as I could and checked out. Whew! that was close!
Yarn arrived today, just over a week later. Beautiful packaging as always. Unfortunately, I had to stuff it in a closet while I finish Sophie’s Universe. Sigh. First world problems.

Ordered another kit from the WoolWarehouse. I plan to make this to fit our queen size bed. It needs livening up and this should do the trick!

I figure two kits give me 32 squares. I hope to be able to eek out 4 more squares from the leftovers to make a 6x6 blanket. If not, I’ll go 6x5.

I want the second set of blocks to be slightly different. So I am changing colors just a wee bit. My rules are:

• pick one fan color to change
• the new shade must be in similar tone/or hue
• make the change everywhere that shade is used in the block

Just finished my 32nd octo. That’s two blankets worth. Whew!

When I laid it out to measure, it’s 65” across. Since I was planning on doing 6x6, that would be too small for a queen sized bed, which averages 60 x 80 inches. I need a think.

My options are to go bigger, 6x7 or go smaller with a 5x7 blanket. I think I will go with the 5x7, put it together but not finish it off. Then I can put it on the bed and see what it looks like, and I can determine if I have the will to go on to add the extra 7 octogons.

Octos were finished a while back, but I took a break for vacation and sanity. Yesterday I started in on squares and got 6 done (it was a Sunday). I’ve calculated that I need 16, so I feel like I’m approaching the finish line finally.

I literally shed a tear when this was done. It’s a beautiful sunshiney day, and so I rushed to finish it so I could do the victory lap photo shoot in the sun. Then I spread it out on our bed for a few more pics. After which, I sat and admired and had a little cry. It’s done. I’m happy, I’m sad, I’m elated.

It would have fit our queen size bed perfectly had I just done one more row of octagons. But there is a limit. I just did not have it in me and for better or worse it is now DONE!!

Yesterday during a boring meeting at work, I made a list of all the things I will work on next. It was an indecently long list….
