Pre-knit info:

  • bust circ: 78 cm
  • upper arm circ: 26 cm

I will test knit size 1 based on these measurements.

Finished the yoke.

Initial reaction to the body pattern is that it is overwhelming. I tried to skim through the entire body portion to get an idea of how to proceed.
Not until when I just sit down and slowly follow the pattern line by line, was when it was actually clear to me.

Blocking the yoke for a fit check as recommended in the pattern. Will take fit check photos.

After blocking: all measurement checked out and the yoke fits me well. Ready to join.

Joined the body in the round and moved the sleeves to scrap yarn. The texture is so nice.

The rest of the pattern is easy to understand and follow (easy yet complicated due to the cable pattern).

I found that if I read a whole paragraph of instructions, then follow them step by step, sentence by sentence, although there are complicated parts, the overall instructions are easy to follow.

The underarm cable & joining details are quite a triumph to complete.

My most favorite feature of this pattern is probably the way the cables flow into the faux ribs. Very nicely done, smooth and elegant.

Block completed. Pictures to follow.

Note on yarn:

  • I really like the pattern. Not so much the yarn. I am a bit sensitive to wool/mohair in my neck. This yarn is quite scratchy overall. I think it does affect the experience of the jumper.
  • I want to remake this jumper in a yarn that I’m more familiar with (maybe with no mohair this time?). Possibly a merino yarn that’s less irritating. And maybe a rounder yarn (more plies than just 1-2?).
  • and maybe short sleeves?
