This gorgeous wrap was the project that finally pushed me to learn to crochet. I received a photo of it and a link to the pattern in my email from Purl Soho back in early 2021 and fell madly in love with it! I asked on the ravelry forums if this could be knitted since I didn’t know how to crochet, and was basically told I would be sewing the pieces together and it would look different, so JUST LEARN TO CROCHET, IT’S EASY!!
So, I did, and I love it, and I LOVE this wrap! I wanted it exactly the same color as the one in the Purl Soho photos, so I chose the Pale Oats yarn they used.
One small caveat. When I was blocking it (which I have to do again since I didn’t have a big enough area to block it properly, hence the squares still curling), the center of one of the mandelas came apart (the only one I forgot to close with a knot through the final loop, of course). I wanted to cry! I fixed it as best I could, but if you look close enough you can find it. :/
All in all, this was such an enjoyable crochet, and I will definitely be making more, especially since I have received requests from several friends and family!
NOTES - I used 16 instead of 8 strands of yarn for each fringe because I wanted them fuller. I also did not use up all 5 skeins of the Pale Oats yarn, which surprised me. I was left with a decent sized ball, which I’ve used for other projects.
UPDATE 5-16-22* ** - The wrap is too heavy with 16 strands of yarn per fringe, so taking it back down to the original 8 as directed in the pattern, or maybe even less, like 6.
12-25-21 Finished two months ago, but have yet to add the fringes due to knitting and crocheting X-mas gifts.
2-22-22 - Finished fringes! Photos coming soon!
5-8-22 Finally got around to taking photos.
