Note to self: loosen tension on knit rounds so maneuvers of twisted-stitches on next round will be easier to do.
My daughter, Arielle and I both love the hat; too bad it’s a gift. I will need to make 2 more!

Magazine article: Twisted-Stitch Knitting by Meg Swansen in Interweave Knits Fall 2010, pg. 28 - 30
great article on variety of twisted-stitches and variety of how to execute and how they are charted.
KNITTING:
yarn: 100% cashmere of 2 ply lace weight; yarn shop combined 3 strands together for me.
Began with 267 grams.
A 100% wool would make the twisted-stitches pop! However, 100% cashmere is so nice especially as a gift (no itch factor). FO will be a very soft and light weight hat.
CO 96 stitches for snug brim (used US 5) for 2” (15 rounds).
Increase to 128 stitches (used US 6)
After doing 1st Round, it feels tight, realized I didn’t switch needles from US 5 to 6. Still feels tight on US 6, moved up to US 7. Since I’m using lighter weight yarn, I adjusted number of stitches (followed beret instructions) and needles (sub yarn and different weight). Target is a slouchy beanie.
2017.01.23:
Chart A done (3.5”). Total of 5.5” from CO. Put Life line.
2017.01.24:
Used sub yarn in lighter weight so gauge is not the same.
Target FO is slouchy beanie.
MODS:
Did additional rounds of Chart A Rnds 1-16 for added length. Put Life Line just in case.
2017.01.25:
Discovered a 7 stitch section not done right. Fixed section without frogging 10 rounds of work. Unravelled the erroneous section down 10 rounds and slowly fixed area.
Finally finished 2nd repeat of Chart A Rnds 1-16 (this added 1.75”in length). Total of 7.25” from CO.
Added WIP Pic.
2017.01.26:
Charted crown decreases for Rounds 17-27. (See photo of chart.)
Began Crown decreases on Chart A Rnd 17 (did not do Chart B or else the design will be off).
Crown decreases on every odd Rnd (17,19,21,etc.) via ssk and k2tog at the beginning and ending, respectively of every chart repeat of round (total of 16 decreases per crown decrease Round).
Crown Decreases section: 1.75” in length.
Total length Pre-blocked: 9”.
All knitting done.
2017.01.27:
