3/2019 UPDATE:
FO diving for a gift for Wendy (this hat was too big for my peanut head so was never worn). Wendy’s hubby stole it from Wendy…so happy hat has a home and will be used and enjoyed
3/11/2018 UPDATE:
Beautiful spring day for a Pre-Blocked FO photo shoot. Arielle modeling this lovely hat. Hat needs to be blocked to reduce pointy crown.
My son: “Mom, there is too much going on, can I have a plain gray hat?” Me: “Plain is just too boring to knit…” Oh well, another lovely hat for me.
Did not gauge.
Will follow pattern as is, then maybe add brim after crown is done.
CO: used provisional CO via crochet hook over knitting needle (US 6)
Setup Row: Changed to US 4 and added life line.
Joined into Round.
Body: Rnd 1 - 44 is 5.5”
01/23/2018: Finished Rnd 44. Added life line.
My hat is much smaller than what the gauge requires: 23 sts over 4”. Mine is approx. 31 sts x 32 rounds over 4” measured over the Forgotten Love section.
Crown Decrease Section:
Prep: Added life line on Rnd 44 and added markers for decrease section. I will add extra rnds between decrease rnds since my gauge is different.
Rnd 45: 10 sts Decrease Rnd (108 sts remain)
Rnd 46: Est. pattern
Rnd 47: Est. pattern
Rnd 48: 8 sts Decrease Rnd (100 sts remain)
Rnd 49: Est. pattern
Rnd 50: Est. pattern
Do Rnd 48-50 a total of 5x = 40 sts decresed (68 sts on needles)
Next Rnd begin decreases on alternate rnds, do this for 8 rnds = 32 sts decreased (36 sts. on needles
Next Rnd begin decreases on every rnd until have 4 sts left. Break yarn, run tail through the 4 sts. 2x then weave in ends. (Running tail twice through the live sts prevents hole from opening.)
1/28/2018: Finished crown.
Finishing:
Hat was long enough, no need for brim (Michael did not want a brim). Removed provisional CO. Did 1 round and then did BO. Sewed in tails.
Weight: 63 g FO; 37 g remain
Pre-Block: m< xx length and xx width across body
Blocked via wash in baby shampoo, laid flat: forthcoming
Post Block: m< xx length and xx width
