Notes

This is not a pattern….just my notes. The notes should be adequate for you to make your own if you have some crochet experience.
Will add the finer details when I recall what I did!! :)

US Terms;

Head

Rnd 17: (1sc in first st, 2sc tog) around.
Rnd 18: 2sc tog around, finish off.

Face
Using single strand of white and 3.5mm hook;

Make an oval shape until you’re happy with the size. Take a strand of white and make a stitch to pull the top of the oval into an inverted point to form the face shape. Sew onto head.

Eyes (make 2)
Using black and 3.5mm hook;
6hdc in a magic ring.
Pull up the ring to close but do not join the end to the starting sc to form a circle…..if you pull up the centre without joining the circle, you will end up with a semi-circular shape. Place one small white stitch somewhere on the eye (same place on both eyes) before stitching to the head.

Beak
Using yellow and 3.5mm hook;
Work 4sc in a magic ring.
Increase 1st at the beginning of each round (this will form the cone shape) until you’re happy with the size of your beak, finish off and sew to face.

Body
Using 2 strands of black and 5.5mm hook;
6 sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 2 sc in each st around.
Rnd 2: (sc 1, 2 sc in next st) round.
Rnd 3: (sc 2, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnd 4: (sc 3, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnds 5-7: sc around.
Rnd 8: (1sc in first 3sts, 2sc tog) around.
Rnd 9: (1sc in first 2sts, 2sc tog) around.
Rnd 10-12: sc around, finish off.

Sew head and body together.

White belly
Using single strand of white and 3.5mm hook;
Row 1: Ch 10, 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1sc in each of next 6ch, 5hdc in last ch. Now turn your work so that you are working back up along the base of your beginning chains and work 1hdc in each of next 8sts, ch 2, turn. (20)
You should have a piece that resembles a thin tongue.
Row 2: 1 hdc in each of next 8sts, 2dc in each of next 5sts, 1hdc in ea st to end, ch2, turn. (25)
Row 3: 1hdc in ea of next 5sts, 1dc in next 2sts, (2dc, 1dc) x 5, 1dc in each of next 3sts, 1hdc in ea st to end, finish off leaving a tail to sew piece to front of body.

Wings/Flippers Make 2.
Using single strand of black and 3.5mm hook;
4sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 2sc in ea st around,
Rnd 2: (sc 1, 2 sc in next st) round.
Rnd 3: sc around.
Rnd 4: (sc 2, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnd 5: sc around.
Rnd 6: (1sc in first 6sts, 2sc tog) x2.
Rnd 7: sc around.

Rnd 9: sc around.
Rnd 10: (1sc in first 4sts, 2sc tog) x2.
Rnd 11: sc around
Rnd 12: (1sc in first 3sts, 2sc tog) x2
Rnd 13: sc around

Feet
Using a single strand of yellow and 3.5mm hook;
I made two of these in yellow;
http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=1

Medical Bag
Using single strand of white and 3.5mm hook;
I made two rectangles - approx. 12sts across x 6 or 7 rows of hdc. Then made 4 strips - two the same length for the top and bottom of the case and two slightly shorter to match the height of the case. Sew the two rectangles to your strips to make a briefcase shape.
Bag handle - work 5ch, finish off and sew in place. Attach to one of the flippers.

The ‘Band Aid’ is just a small oval worked in blue. I then stitched 2 lines across to make it look like a band aid.

Blue Collar
Using single strand of blue and 3.5mm hook;
I worked a row of foundation single crochet (fdsc) - make it long enough to sit around the neck. When it’s long enough, work 3ch and turn. Then work 4dc, 3hdc, then sc to the last 8 sts, work 3hdc then 4dc. Ch1, turn and sc to end. Finish off and sew around neck over the top of the flippers - so make sure that you’ve sewn them on first.
Work 3 ‘v’ stitches with black embroidery thread of each side of the collar as seen in pics of ‘Peso’.

Hat
Will need to remake one to remember what I did!

I stitched a row of blue around the hat as per the pic that I had Googled.

Blue circle hat badge;
Using a single strand of medium blue and 3.5mm hook;
Work 6sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 2sc in ea st around. (12)
Rnd 2: (2sc in first st, 1sc in next) around. (18)
Sew to front of hat.
Using white yarn, sew a row of chain st around edge of circle, then oversew the chains to form a solid line of stitching.
Use white embroidery thread and 1.5mm hook - work 6sc in a magic ring and then finish off to make the octopus body. Sew the white circle to the hat badge and then stitch 4 legs. I then used some black to sew two tiny eyes - French knots will do.
Using your white yarn, work 1 row of stitching around the hat brim - see pic.
